Two big races & many many PB's. Kaye Patterson knocked a whole 10 minutes of her Marathon PB. Just to remind all members the Club website has a PB page. You can log in & enter all your PB's. Also look up the Club records & try & get your name in there .:-)

EAST CORNWALL HARRIERS. FIVE TORS REPORT. 16 APRIL 2017.
On a bright but chilly Easter Sunday – 269 runners lined up to tackle the annual 5 tors Fell Race run on Bodmin Moor – hosted by East Cornwall Harriers. This is round 6 of the Cornwall Multi Terrain series and the only official Fell Race held in Cornwall.
The conditions were perfect for running being mainly dry with good visibilty over the moor. Notwithstanding this full safety precautions were on standby provided by Cornwall Search & Rescue to whom the club are very grateful.
Amongst the runners were dedicated fell runners from other parts of the country and a few visiting runners spending Easter in Cornwall. For the Nash family who live within sight of the start & finish line this is the shortest journey to a race they ever have. Pete & Jenny Nash & son Dan all competed – Dan Nash being home from Cardiff for Easter. In total 24 Harriers took part.
The 8.2 mile race starts & finishes at the Minions Car Park & heads out to Tregarrick Tor where the runners turn & then head up to Kilmar Tor, then Bearah Tor before circling back around Sharp Tor & finally negotiating the steep climb over the Cheesewring to the finish. The leading runners set a blistering pace. Dan Nash was first home in 53.37 a new course record followed closely by James Waldie from Carnethy Hill runers in 54.05. Tom Carthey from Falmouth Road runners in 56.44 was third. Doug Stacey 59.36 was first Harrier & 1st in his age category & one of 7 Runners to beat the 1 hour mark
Lucy McAllister – from Bristol Athletic Club was first lady in the amazing time of 1.01.20. Maddie Horton from North Devon Road Runners was 2nd female in 1.03.53 and the ever consistent Rebecca Ezra from Tamar Trotters was third female in 1.05.27.
The fast improving Darren Harvey was 2nd Harrier in 1.07 56 & 5th in age category just ahead of Paul Arrowsmith in 1.09.56 who was 2nd in his age category. David Philp 1.10.00 was again first in his age category. Evie Brailsford 1.10.36 was first female Harrier, 2nd in her age group & 4th female overall – a very fine performance. Chris Ullman 1.11.22 had a fine run just pipping Alex Coley 1.12.26 by 64 seconds. Jenny Nash was 2nd Female Harrier & 1st in her age group in 1.13.18. Ben Harding put in another gritty performance – to finish 7th in his age group in 1.14.59. Jamie Husband pulled out a magnificent run to finish in 1.15.54. Ian Crowle 1.16.25 just pipped third Female Harrier Helen Morse 1.16.39 by 14 seconds. Hayley Stacey 1.19.55 edged out Sharon Daw 1.20.01 by 6 seconds. Hayley was 3rd in her age group & Sharon 3rd in her age group. Emily Young 1.21.18 was just ahead of Meeta Nicholls who powered around the Tors in 1.21.52 to grab 2nd in her age category. Club chairman Mark Andrews completed the race in 1.23.56 just ahead of Marcus Wills in 1.26.49. Tracey Brown 1.28 .23 edged out Simon Coley 1.28.43 by just 20 seconds. Dave Lean 1.30.59 was next home for the Harriers ahead of Lucy Oldham 1.34.20 Emma Dales ran a PB for this race in 1.35.29 Pete Nash 1.46.45 finished just ahead of Steve Beazley 1.48.06.
The Harriers mens team grabbed 3rd place & the Harriers Ladies team achieved a magnificent 1st place. A very fine weekend for all the runners & their supporters.
